EU Design Registration Costs [2018]

Protected Object Registered designs protect only the appearance of products, especially the special parts of the appearance, but does not protect the function or operation of the products. The appearance of products mainly refers to shape, configuration, pattern, ornament or combination of the aforementioned, and these features must be innovative and eye-catching.

Why apply for a design registration? If a product is attractive in appearance or shape, or motivates people to purchase the product, it is especially important to register the design of the product. Meanwhile, if the shape or appearance of a product is conducive to branding, it is also important to register the design. Registering your design ensures that competitors can't take advantage of your design and benefit from competitive products that have the same shape or appearance. If competitors do this, they will infringe on your registered design. As the owner of a registered design, you can file a civil action for his infringement.
